Tournament Rules                                                                                       Revised 3/14/17

  1. Fly Fishing Only Tournament. This means only fly fishing gear can be used. Flies only, no bait.
  2. Two person teams. Team members must remain together in the same location at all times while participating in the tournament. Not only for the safety of the team members but also for the safety of the fish which will be explained later.
  3. The object is to accrue points by catching as many different species from the list in the allotted amount of time. There are 20 different scoreable species listed. The point system is based upon the relative difficulty of each species to catch on a fly.
  4. Each team may only submit two fish per species, thus only earning points for two submissions per species. This is so each angler per team has the opportunity to catch the species.
  5. This is a day time tournament. Saturday June 24th lines need to be out of the water at 8 p.m. Sunday June 25th lines need to be out of the water at 1p.m.
  6. If there is a need for a tie breaker, the most species caught by a team is the winner. If a tie remains, a civil game of Rock Paper Scissors will be activated. Best out of three wins.
  7. This is a C&R (catch and release) Tournament! Treat the fish with respect and practice safe handling of fish.
  8. Pictures of beached fish and/or dirty, muddy fish will be subject to not earning any points. You will need your partner/team mate to take a tournament legal picture of you with your catch. Thus, helping to explain the fish’s safety in rule #2.
  9. Tournament entries will be submitted via picture. On Friday June 23rd you will be given a control item to use (travel to pick up this item is not required - this will be a household everyday item, your item will chosen randomly). This will be required in each picture for the submission to accrue any points.
  10. Pictures must be submitted via text message to a cell number that will be provided. All pics of the day must be submitted by 10 p.m. on Saturday June 24th and 2 p.m. on Sunday June 25th. Pictures received after the cut off times will not be counted toward your teams score. Night pics will not qualify. This is a day time tournament.
  11. All fish must be caught in West Virginia public water.
  12. Boats are legal.
  13. All teams must follow WV DNR regulations when and where they apply.
  14. Tournament Judges will have final say/ruling on all submissions.
