What its like to hunt in Colorado.

Where did you hunt?

Pagosa Springs Colorado, San Juan National Forest.

What was the weather like on your hunt?

Windy most of the week. Cool mornings warming up to the 50’s then cooler again in the evenings.

What gear did you use for your hunt and how did it benefit your hunt?

Used Under Armour base layers with Sitka outer layer and Sitka jacket. The Sitka clothes provided light weight yet durable protection. When the temperatures reached the 50’s it was nice to shed the base layers and have cool comfortable clothing for the uphill walks. The Sitka gear held up great while climbing up and down rocky terrain and climbing over dead fall throughout the forest.

Bow: Mathews Halon
Sight: CBE Tek Target
Rest: QAD Ultra Rest HD
Arrows: Carbon Express Maxima Reds
Broad head: Swhacker 100gr.
Release: Scott Little Goose
Optics: Vortex range finder and binoculars
Shirt: Sitka Core Lt. Crew Subalpine
Jacket: Sitka Ascent
Pants: Sitka Ascent
Although we didn't have any luck with the elk we did see plenty of wildlife including black bears, mule deer, turkeys and even a bald eagle.
